Historical Statement:

     Tony is the youngest of five children. He attended Thomas Wingate Andrews High School and played Baseball where he was voted best defensive player and went on to play for Saint Augustine’s College in Raleigh, N.C.

    In 1984 he attended an Historical Black College called Saint Augustine’s College in Raleigh, N.C.  He played baseball at Saint Augustine’s College on a walk-on scholarship. Knowing that his parents couldn’t afford his college tuition, he worked at various places such as college work study, Big Star groceries, Janitorial (IBM buildings), Pizza Hut and The North Raleigh Hilton as a bellman and not to mention finicial aid.  That’s how he was able to pay his way through school. In December of 1988, he graduated from Saint Augustine’s College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education degree and a minor in Physical therapy. In May of 1989, while he continued to work as a bellman at the North Raleigh Hilton, he was employed by The Wake County Sheriff’s Department as a Recreation Detention Officer until September 3, 1995. On September 5, 1995 he was employed with the Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Prisons as a Correctional Officer.  In May of 1996, he was promoted as a Education/Recreation Specialist and has been employed for fourteen years of government service. In the fall of 1985, while at Saint Augustine’s College, he met Jacqueline L. Rigby while cleaning women dormitories as part of his work studies to help pay his college tuition.  Thats where they began their life together.  After graduation in 1988, Jacqueline (Jackie) went back home to Freeport Grand Bahama.  During that time away from each other for three long years from the sticks of North Carolina through the waters across the Atlantic Ocean, they were planning their future together.  July 6, 1991 they became as one.  They had a total of 52 people in their wedding party with about ten all white limousines.  The limousines service was organized by her father, the late Albury Rigby and his friends. In May of 1991, he purchased his first new home in Raleigh, N.C. In 1992 in the wedding section of Jet Magazine, as Island Nuptials. Check us out in the February 17, 1992 issue of Jet at: books.google.com/books He’s currently featured on an Orthodontist commercial by Dr. David B. Gilbert adverisement.  It’s shown throughout the triangle area on ABC TV. (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and surrounding areas). He’s actively involved in the extracurricular activities of his children.  In his first year of coaching his son Marcus 10U little league baseball team in Wake Forest, N.C., finishing 13-1 in the regular season and went on to win his first little league championship.  He would like to say (with no proof) at the age of 39, He was the first black to coach a winning little league baseball team championship in Wake Forest, N.C. Member of the First Emmanuel Baptist Church in High Point, N.C. Attend Church of God of Prophecy in Raleigh, N.C. He currently is a resident of Wake Forest, N.C. His hobbies and interest are:

  • He was taught by my grandfather James Phillips, my family, and my in-laws on how to cut, edge and trim hedges
  • Huge wrestling fan (Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling)

  • Love to play and coach baseball and softball
  • Bowling, Fishing, Badminton
  • He love to listen to old electrifying Gospel music
  • He listen to 70’s and 80’s old school Hip Hop and R&B music.
