Virginia Phillips was born in Rutherfordton , NC but resided in nearby Gaffney , SC. Family and friends fondly referred to Virginia as Aunt Dit, or Miss Dit. She was a sweet, loving, and generous person willing to help anyone needing assistance. Virginia was quiet and soft spoken but her words of wisdom deeply affected every person fortunate to hear the sound of her voice. She was a member of Suck Creek Baptist Church and loved reading the bible. She provided for her eight children by picking cotton, cleaning homes, and sewing. She enjoyed sewing and was an expert seamstress.
