2009 Phillips Family Reunion Bowling Extravaganza

On the morning of August 8, 2009 the Phillips family departed in separate ways. There were several selections of events which to choose from. Some went bowling, some went shopping, golfing, and some just decided to lounge around the hotel.Deonne Alston I had the opportunity to share with the family on the bowling extravaganza. There were about 20 family members joined in with bowling.

It began out with the ladies bowling against the men. Us men were going to show them ladies up, but the game wasn’t going the way we thought. The ladies were actually keeping up with the men. Mrs. Shirley Phillips, Ms. Cassandra Torrence, Ms.Deonne Alston, Mrs. Betty Marcus, and Ms. Sharon Black were the ladies, and you could tell it wasn’t their first time bowling. The men consisted of Mr. Melvin Lynch, Mr. Keith Crawford, Mr. Eric Whittakers, Mr. Garnett, and Mr. Rene, we struggled to just barely stay ahead of the ladies. Without the 5 strikes that Mr. Eric bowled, we probably would have not led the game. At the end of the first game, the men won, but just barely. We played another one, and I believe the ladies won that one. Its not whether we won or lose, but the fun and entertainment we shared with the family.

A little later, we had more family members arrive. We had some of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Crawford’s family, Wendy Robinson Hyman, Ms. Krishna Torrence, Mr. Boris Robinson, and his children, and several more. I was noticing how much patience Mr. Boris had with his little son with helping him bowl. He presents himself of being an outstanding father, and a devoted husband.

Time seemed to have went by so fast, and before we knew it, it was time to leave and prepare for tonight’s banquet at 6:00. When we departed, we didn’t discuss about how we beat the ladies, nor how the ladies beat the men. We didn’t talk about how well we played, nor how bad we played. We talked about how much fun we had being about family, and saying that we need to do this more often, not just Family Reunions.
